Overview
This Acceptable Usage Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules governing the use of WePay's platform, virtual card services, wallet, and all related financial services. All users of WePay must comply with this policy. Violations may result in immediate account suspension, fund holds, or permanent termination of access.
1. Permitted Uses
WePay is designed for legitimate personal and business financial activities, including:
- Online shopping at authorized merchants using virtual cards
- Payment for digital subscriptions, software, and online services
- Funding digital advertising campaigns on authorized platforms
- Peer-to-peer money transfers between verified users
- Receiving payments for legitimate goods and services
- International remittances and cross-border payments
- Managing personal or business expenses through the wallet
2. Prohibited Uses
You may not use WePay for the following prohibited activities:
2.1 Illegal Activities
- Any activity that violates applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations
- Financing of terrorism, arms trafficking, or activities related to sanctioned parties
- Tax evasion or facilitating the evasion of taxes by others
- Operating unlicensed financial services, money transmission, or gambling operations
2.2 Fraudulent Activities
- Identity theft or impersonation of another person or entity
- Using stolen card details, credentials, or account information
- Friendly fraud, chargeback abuse, or deliberate dispute manipulation
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent limits, bans, or KYC requirements
- Providing false information during account registration or KYC
2.3 Money Laundering
- Structuring transactions to evade reporting thresholds
- Using the platform to conceal the origins of illicit funds
- Processing payments on behalf of unlicensed third parties
2.4 Prohibited Merchant Categories
WePay virtual cards may not be used for transactions related to:
- Illegal drugs, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia
- Weapons, firearms, or explosive materials (without proper licensing)
- Adult content, escort services, or human trafficking
- Unlicensed gambling, lottery, or sports betting operations
- Counterfeit goods or intellectual property infringement
- Pyramid schemes, Ponzi schemes, or other fraudulent investment vehicles
2.5 Platform Abuse
- Automated access, scraping, or use of bots on the platform
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling any part of the Service
- Introducing viruses, malware, or any other malicious code
- Engaging in denial-of-service attacks or system overload attempts
- Circumventing security controls, rate limits, or account restrictions
3. High-Risk Activities Requiring Prior Approval
The following activities require written approval from WePay's compliance team before use:
- Processing payments on behalf of third parties (payment aggregation)
- High-volume cryptocurrency-related transactions
- Running licensed financial services using WePay's infrastructure
- Marketplace or platform businesses with multiple sub-merchants

4. Transaction Monitoring
WePay employs automated and manual transaction monitoring to detect and prevent misuse of the platform. By using WePay, you consent to this monitoring. Suspicious activity may result in:
- Temporary holds on transactions or wallet funds
- Requests for additional documentation or verification
- Account suspension pending investigation
- Reporting to relevant regulatory or law enforcement authorities
5. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violations of this policy by another user, please report it to abuse@wepay.com. We take all reports seriously and investigate them promptly.
6. Consequences of Violations
Violations of this AUP may result in:
- Immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account
- Freezing of wallet funds pending investigation
- Reporting to relevant financial intelligence units (NFIU)
- Civil or criminal legal action where warranted
- Forfeiture of funds involved in prohibited activity
7. Changes to This Policy
WePay reserves the right to update this policy at any time. We will notify users of material changes with at least 30 days' advance notice. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance.
